1. I am a very good impressionist/voice imitator. Ever since I was a little boy, I found I had a talent doing voices and hope to have a career as a voice over actor in the future. I do both cartoon characters, and celebrities. No matter if it's Bugs Bunny or Sylvester Stallone, if you name it, I can do him/her.
2. I love animated cartoons. While I loved cartoons as a kid (what kid doesn't?) I actually found animation to also appeal to me as an adult. Part of the reason being that people in the business feel cartoons are NOT just for children. I also enjoy now looking at the history of animation, and have a couple of books on it, as well as DVD documentaries that talk about cartoons through the decades dating back to Walt Disney and cartoons today. With my voice acting ambition earlier, voicing cartoons would be my dream job.
3. I have a better memory than most people. Don't ask me exactly why or when my memory matured this way, but I have a knack for, if I see or hear it enough times, or something really sticks out, I can remember a lot. Sometimes I can remember all the lines to a full length movie and it really impresses people. Makes me wonder if I should have been born an elephant (not really).
4. I am a fan of professional wrestling. This may raise some eyebrows from you, but I do admit, since the late 90's, I have been a fan of wrestling. Admittedly, when at its worst, I do feel embarrassed at times to be a fan, but when at its best, I'm reminded why I enjoy it. It's athletic, it's engaging and if you can score tickets, you can have a lot of fun being there live. Come on, I know a lot of you loved Hulk Hogan when you were younger. "Hulkamania, brother!"
5. My favorite outdoor activity is swimming. During my teen years, I always enjoyed being at a swimming pool during the summers. Unfortunately, I haven't had a pool in my backyard for a couple years since the last one broke, and I haven't gotten any membership to a gym. I'm pretty sure next time I see a pool though, I'll be dipping in that faster than a french fry into ketchup.
6. My favorite property other than animation is Jim Henson's Muppets. Jim Henson is one of my biggest influences and thanks to my mom recording a lot of Muppet specials when I was a kid, I grew up to enjoy Kermit the Frog and his friends. Much like a lot of the cartoons I watch, the Muppets appeal to both kids and adults, so I wouldn't have to feel embarrassed watching Sesame Street or Fraggle Rock with or without little kids around. Also, the puppetry is some of the most sophisticated in the world. Especially when they have puppets ride bicycles. I hope to achieve the same dreams that Jim had during the Muppets heyday. R.I.P.
7. I have an acoustic guitar. I haven't practiced in awhile, but I wanted to learn how to play guitar. I have a soft string one so it's easier on my fingers while playing. Interestingly, this isn't my first musical instrument. I used play the Saxophone back in elementary school. If I didn't want to learn the guitar so bad, maybe I would have been in a jazz group. Ah well. But anyway, I do enjoy learning to play guitar and hope to break it out again someday. Cartoon fan unplugged! (lol)
8. I'm a big fan of music. While my favorite is Rock and Roll, I've been partial to other types of music, too. Rhythm and Blues, Reggae, Country, 80's pop, Jazz, Latin, and even classical and Hip Hop. A big part has to do, not only with radio and MTV, but also with the Grand Theft Auto video games because of their radio stations having licensed music of all genres. So chances are, I'll like a little bit of everything when it comes to music. Oh, and yes, I have played the Guitar Hero and Rock Band games. very fun.
9. Christmas is my favorite holiday. I know it isn't the favorite holiday for everyone, but for me, it's the best time of the year. Even though it means a lot of work since I have a job in retail, it's all worth it when the purchases are for someone special for the holidays. Also, it just seems so special. Decorating the tree, all specials on TV, the fun in the snow, the traditions in New York City (if you've been to NYC, you know what I mean), and of course, Christmas presents and candy. Can't wait! For now, I'll just enjoy Halloween since it is that month.
10. I enjoy science fiction. When I see movies or TV shows that deal with science fiction, it always intrigues me. The theories on outer space, time travel, robotics, and advances in mankind always leave me not only entertained, but left thinking. Whether it's the setting of 2001:A Space Odyssey, the imangination of Star Wars, the implications of Blade Runner or the life lessons of Star Trek, Sci-fi is very creative. My dad certainly thinks so, too.
There you go. Ten things about me. See ya next time.
